F.A.Q.
  • I'M INTERESTED IN LEARNING BURLESQUE, BUT HOW DO I KNOW IF IT'S FOR ME?

Try out our Burlesque "Art of the Tease" class before you commit to taking the whole Beginners Workshop! Our 1st class in the Beginners 101 Workshop session is available for single-class registration. Email us for info!

  • AM I TOO CURVEY, OLD, INEXPERIENCED, SHY TO TRY BURLESQUE?

Heck no! Burlesque is for all body types, all ages, genders, identities and experience levels. Burlesque  is about what you bring to the table! That's why our motto is, "It's not what you've got...it's the fun you have shakin' it!"

  • MY JOB/PARENTS/BOYFRIEND/CHURCH WILL FIRE/DISOWN ME IF THEY FIND OUT I'M INVOLVED WITH BURLESQUE, WHAT IS YOUR PRIVACY POLICY?

First of all, we're sorry to hear that! That is exactly the kind of narrow-mindedness about the Art of the Tease that Boom Boom Basics works against! Your real name will never be released in public, your information is never sold. You can elect to not participate in our Student Recitals, and your photo will never be published by the studio without your prior approval. We believe in both privacy & image protection, and the right to practice the sparkly arts if you so desire here at BBB!

  • I'M INTERESTED TO TAKE YOUR NEXT BEGINNERS BURLESQUE WORKSHOP, BUT DATES AREN'T POSTED YET. HOW DO I FIND OUT WHEN CLASSES WILL START?

Well the best way is to sign up for our mailing list here We send out monthly newsletters with all our upcoming studio news! Do also "like" our facebook fanpage or instagram and check back often for updates! You can always email us as well and we may be able to give you an estimated start date or place you on a waiting list.

  • DO YOU ACCEPT PAYMENT PLANS FOR YOUR WORKSHOPS?

Yes! Boom Boom Basics is happy to work with you on a payment plan for our workshop series. Shoot us an email for details!

  • ONCE I GRADUATE THE BEGINNERS BURLESQUE WORKSHOP, DOES THAT MEAN I WILL GET BOOKED FOR SHOWS?

No. It takes a lot of hard work and effort to become a "burlesque dancer." Our Richmond scene is rich with opportunities to get your feet wet performing following your graduation, but YOU have to do the work to get yourself there. Rome was not built in a day, and neither is a successful burlesque career. Our Beginners Program is designed with stage-ready'ing courses to help prepare you for "burlesque in the real world," but your own talent, drive, professionalism and creativity will take you there. We're here to provide students with the tools...how you build after that is up to you! Boom Boom Basics encourages students to study "the Art of the Tease" for life!

  • DO I NEED TAP SHOES, BALLET SHOES, JAZZ SHOES, ETC FOR YOUR DANCE TECHNIQUE CLASSES?

Yes! Pay close attention to ALL the clothing and shoe requirements for participation in each class. Proper footwear and attire will ensure you learn the technique successfully and safely.

  • IT'S SUPPOSED TO SLEET CATS AND DOGS TOMORROW, WILL CLASS BE CANCELED?

In the event of inclement weather, an announcement of cancellation will be made via email, on our facebook fanpage, in our private student facebook groups AND listed on our class calendar. Notice will be given minimum 1-hour prior to class time.
