Boom Boom Basics offers a full burlesque educational and community support program, with classes and workshops in the burlesque, vaudeville, and cabaret arts available in the River City, and occasional weekend workshops around the Commonwealth of Virginia and other U.S. locales throughout the year!

Beginning January 2019, ur classes and workshops will all be held at Dogtown Dance Theatre, in Richmond's up and coming Manchester district, with qualified and experienced professional burlesque instructors and performers. We also offer birthday, bachelorette and private parties too!
“Professional Purveyor of Good Times,” Deanna Danger is an international performance artist, events producer, culture-maker, and the Headmastress of Boom Boom Basics Burlesque & Performing Arts Studio. Ms. Danger is Richmond’s reigning, voted “Best Burlesque Performer,” Richmond’s 2016 “Entertainer of the Year,” and 2012 1st Place “Crystal Corset Award” winner of the Pennsylvania Burlesque Festival. She is the producer/director of Butchertown Burlesque, a vintage-classic, live jazz + burlesque nightlife series appearing in Richmond and Charlottesville, and creatrix/femmecee of PurpleLife RVA, a queer/sex positive, nightlife danceparty experience, occurring monthly at Godfrey’s. Ms. Danger is the lead choreographer for the Boomettes, studio dance troupe of Boom Boom Basics, and the founder/producer of the Miss Pinup RVA Competition.

Lottie Ellington, Virginia's infamous “Twerking Teacher,” revels in keeping the audience on the edge of their seats! Her unique style that blends comedic wit with a flair for the dramatic, began at an early age while studying various genres of dance including jazz, tap, Congolese?. She’s continued pushing the boundaries of burlesque since her debut in 2011, and has performed in the Ohio Burlesque Festival, the Great Burlesque Expo in Boston, and the Fierce Burlesque Festival in Pennsylvania. In 2015 she wowed audiences at the Burlypics Competition in Michigan’s taking home the “Master of Assels” title, and in 2016 she put her skills to good use joining the staff of Boom Boom Basics Burlesque & Performing Arts Studio in Richmond, VA. Lottie teaches Burlesque 101 and other courses around Virginia and beyond, and supports the studio community as both “den mama” and as an advisory troupe member of the Boomettes dance troupe, of which she’s been a member of since 2015.

New Jersey built and Richmond bloomed, Jo'Rie Tigerlily is poised to rip your face off in sexiest way possible. Known as the Ferocious Flower, she always brings the house down with her untiring energy and never fails to leave audiences wanting more! With a background in all things music and theater, this singer, dancer, mover and shaker is no stranger to the stage. Her accomplishments include performing in Jeezy’s Juke Joint (Chicago), The Show Me Burlesque Festival (St. Louis) and claiming the Burlesque Bunny title at the 2016 Edmonton Burlesque Festival (Alberta,ON). She is a student and recently staffed teacher of Boom Boom Basics Burlesque and Performing Arts Studio (Richmond, VA) as well as a member and choreographer of Deanna Danger's Boomettes dance troupe. She has also been a featured performer in the Butchertown Burlesque series and can frequently be found shimmying and shaking all over the state of Virginia. A furious force of passion and power, raising your adrenaline one performance at a time.

Ruby Whipstitch is an RVA based burlesque performer, professional costume designer, and seamstress. What people choose to wear and why has always fascinated her, so she was bit by the sewing bug early and never stopped! A BA in Theatrical Costuming and extensive focus in costume history formalized her earlier craft education received from her talented mother. She has been employed steadily in the field ever since with theaters in NYC and RVA as well as a large theme park in Williamsburg, VA. She enjoys helping other aspiring costumers solve problems and learn new tricks and loves nothing more than seeing their finished projects!
